Peter And The Mirror People Story #32 Peter And The Monsters edition by Darren Pillsbury Children eBooks

After the intensity that was Peter and the Bikers, I wasn't sure what to expect from "Mirror World" as it was tentatively titled. However, Peter and the Mirror People proved to be a welcome and fun detour from the messiness that the Normal family life (get it?) has devolved into (excluding the Shinobi training which is going extremely well, although we don't see any of it this time). That's not to say that it has been forgotten. It's there, lingering in the distance like a dark storm cloud just waiting to burst forth with torrential rain and thunder. Until then...

This particular story starts with Gwen (a.k.a the reincarnation of Annie Oakley) being sent to the depths of Tartarus...Okay, a really girly slumber party but it might as well have been (and Gwen certainly thinks so). She's the odd girl out the moment she steps into the room of the Queen B(fill in the rest ) and host of the slumber party and being who she is, they immediately butt heads. If you've ever seen a horror movie that begins with a girl's slumber party, you can probably guess where this is headed [particularly since Ouija boards were already covered in Peter and the Bogeyman]. If this were some other author, it wouldn't go much further than that. Since this is Pillsbury we're talking about, we get the expected cleverly mutated with fun twists. The villain of this story isn't the only Mirror Person we meet and this second denizen ends up having an interesting take on our world (not the "real world" because there are other worlds you know!). Her dialogue with Dill is a riot and worth the price of admission alone.

As for Gwen, we get to see a more vulnerable side to her. She's an amazing and tough young girl but she isn't entirely immune to what other people think about her and (similar to what happened to Dill in Peter and the Demon) this insecurity leads her to (inadvertently) trigger the events of this story. And as they are dealing with the villain of this particular story, she is forced to take a hard look at some of her more cherished beliefs regarding the morality of hunting (I have to applaud Darren for probing the issue deftly, without bias and without letting it taking over the whole story).

In summation, the story was a fantastic romp filled with enough humor and character development on Gwen's part to tide even the most die hard fan over ...for a couple of weeks at least.

Peter And The Mirror People Story #32 Peter And The Monsters edition by Darren Pillsbury Children eBooks Reviews

I think kids of all ages will really enjoy this series. I hope the books just keep on coming. Dilan Gwyn birth rate in the series. Enjoy reading.
Omg, I truly love all the books in this series about Peter. I love all the characters, especially Dill, he just cracks me up and the story line keeps me on my toes. The author has great imagination when creating the monsters. I can't put the book down once I start reading and just can't wait for the next book to read.
I have kept up with this series for several years now.
As with so many other authors, there's always the concern of things getting stale.
Mr. Pillsbury has come through with, yet another, great one!
This series is definitely one of my favorites. I'm always torn between wanting to read it and not wanting it to end. Fortunately there is always another tail right around the corner.
I LOVE these books- I have them all and can not wait for each new one to come out. As a Mom I laugh out loud- literally- Dill tickles me. These really are great books and I hope that Mr. Pillsbury will find a way to keep the series going. If you have not read them all - do not cheat yourself, start at #1.
Just finished the story and Loved it. I am amazed by the extent of Mr Pillsbury imagination. The story is wonderfully written as always. The characters are a little scary but not too scary. I will never look at a mirror the same. They now have a certain creep factor. Well done.
There is not enough praise available to give the "Peter and the Monsters" series. They are each good stories, good character development, providing laughter and/or tears, sometimes both. I've yet to find one typo in any of them. I love these books so much that the characters are almost like family members to me--I worry about them and hope it all goes well for them. As this series has advanced, it hits some dark territory, but never gratuitously, and while gore or violence are involved in some plots, it is never excessive and it never devolves into coarse goriness. I have so much respect for this series and I want so much for it to receive the attention it deserves.
